About the data
How the figures are calculated
- Subway stations
- The nearest station and its distance, with the lines that stop there and the next trains. Source: MTA Subway GTFS and MTA Subway Stations.
- Live trains
- Train positions from the MTA real-time feeds. Locations may be estimated rather than measured. Select a time to follow that trip.
- Entrances
- Subway entrances within 820 ft (250 m), and how many of them are elevators. Source: MTA Subway Entrances and Exits.
- Buses
- Bus stops within 820 ft (250 m) and the routes that serve them. Source: MTA Bus GTFS.
- Ridership
- How many riders enter the nearest station on a typical weekday and weekend day, and the busiest hour. Source: MTA Subway Hourly Ridership.
- Bike routes
- NYC bike routes within 820 ft (250 m).
How to read it
- Dashed times are scheduled trips with no train assigned yet. They are not on the map.
- Ridership counts taps in, not exits, over the last 13 weeks.
